About Southern Rugby Club

Southern Rugby Club members are passionate about their club as were their predecessors about the three rugby clubs that amalgamated to form Southern RC in 1994.

We have up to 400 players/members attending weekly games and functions and many members who were playing in senior teams from as far back as the 1950/60’s.

Southern RC covers the greater South Taranaki area with players and coaches for our afternoon teams coming from as far a-field as Opunake, Manaia, Eltham, Kaponga and Patea.

Southern has a good relationship with the business community in South Taranaki, with many local businesses involved in sponsoring the club either by service or financially.

Southern supports Hawera High School rugby through sponsorship and gear.

The club operates from it’s club rooms (known as the Southern Lounge) located above the grandstand on the western end of the world class TSB Hub facility, overlooking the rugby grounds of Hicks Park and is run voluntarily with a lot of effort put in by members.
